Outcomes of Strategic Priorities

Connectivity’s strategic focus for 2024 – 2027 is to Educate, Empower and Ensure

Educate the Australian community on TBI of all severities, including concussion.

Empower Australians with the knowledge to respond, manage and make informed choices for themselves and their loved ones.

Outcomes

  • Australians including all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are aware of what a TBI (including concussion) is, they can recognise a TBI and know what to do if a TBI occurs.
  • Resultant early treatment and management will improve health outcomes for Australians including all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are impacted by TBI (including concussion).
  • Reduced likelihood of sustaining a TBI due to improved knowledge of how these injuries can occur and the consequences.
  • Reduced economic impact on the Australian healthcare system due to reduced incidence and improved recognition and management of TBI.
  • Reduced stigma and fear (especially related to concussion) due to improved understanding of TBI.
  • Increased confidence in the diagnosis, treatment and management of TBI for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare workers.

Ensure our doctors and all healthcare providers are educated and have access to consistent, research-informed, evidenced-based information to improve injury management and health outcomes for TBI sufferers and reduce economic burden.

Outcomes

  • Australian health professionals are educated on TBI (including concussion).
  • Australian healthcare professionals have increased confidence and capacity to provide best-practice, evidence-based treatment and management to people who have experienced TBI.
  • Consistent standards of treatment and management of TBI (including concussion) are ensured nationally.
  • Improved visitation rates to healthcare providers following a TBI, leading to reduced complications and improved health outcomes for Australians who experience a TBI.
  • Reduced economic burden to Australia’s healthcare system.
